The end of libraries

The other day I visited the brand new public library in Brighton Colorado. It is a beautiful place, open and bright. Children were actually reading in the children section and several people were reading in front of a fire place.
I was reminded of a Starbucks with books. It is a shame that our grand children will probably be the last generation to enjoy reading a book much less going to a public library.
Today one can down load books for free from the Internet and with the current mobile communicators one can in essence carry around hundreds of books in their back pocket.
Will one day see school issue little electronic devices in place of text books? Will the day come when instead of going to a class room a student will simply go to a large room full of cubicles and watch the teacher on a monitor and listen to him or her on a headset. What will all this do to the ability of a child to interact with other people.
Today they no longer teach cursive or long hand writing to elementary school children, the reason is that since no one writes letters any longer there is no reason to learn to write in long hand. Long ago they stopped teaching Latin in secondary schools because Latin is a "Dead", language. But for science and international communications Latin is indeed still alive and kicking. A common Scotch Pine is called the Pinus Sylvestris Globosa Viridis anywhere in the world. Medicine is still using Latin terms yet it is a dead language.
This blog I have created, will explore the things we take for granite that will shortly change our lives. Also I will be looking at the reasons, they are disappearing and some of these reasons may really surprise us all. I hope that maybe you will be able to share with me some of the things in this Paradigm shift you are seeing that others do not see.
